New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees fully participated in practice Sunday for the first time since straining his left oblique muscle two weeks ago.
Brees hasn't missed a start due to injury since coming to New Orleans in 2006 and says he plans on playing against Indianapolis on Saturday night in the Saints' third preseason game.
Brees says he could have played in New Orleans' 31-24 preseason win over Tennessee on Friday night, but was playing it "smart" by getting extra rest.
Saints coach Sean Payton calls the time Brees was given to recuperate "was important."
Just because he wasn't practicing, doesn't mean he thinks he wasn't getting any better. The quarterback says he took time to watch the game from a different vantage point, including listening to defensive coaches during 11-on-11 drills.
